Old bit of sheeps wool taken from the closest fence. Floats well and can hold up a nice nymph and looks very natural in the water. Just do an overhand loop in your leader and poke a tuft through then pull tight.

Only downside is that it can be difficult to see in a bubble run and it's pretty difficult to change the length.

I like the fluro twist on type of indicators. They slip over the leader and when twisted on use a "bone" shaped rubber core to hold and keep the two closed cell foam ends together. The pluses are that they do not require any knot in the leader and depending on how tightly they are twisted on, they can be slid along the leader to vary the depth. The downside is cost, they sell for about $10.00 a pocket of four. An alternative indicator is a big, bushy dry fly tied either in inline or as a dropper from the leader. Regards, Ken.

Cut some craft foam into strips and use two small rubber o-rings. Simple and easy to use. Make them as big or small as you like, plus you can move them if needed.
