Here are some Joe Priest lures. Many would know that Joe died in 2004 during a very strange series of events involving John Knols at the Walkers Beach Bass comp on the Hawksbury. I never met the man or used any of his lures but I guess it is because I was at that event when it happened that I wanted to pick up a few of his lures. JP lures were made in The Deep Driver lure was one of only a handful carved by Joe and this one was made for Paul Kneller and named ‘Knellers Sucker’ and has a number of messages to Paul written on it. It also has Joes name and ph number on the lure. I like these lures that can tie a couple of well known makers together 9Kinda like my Kneller painted

I am pretty sure it is a JP Baz. It was sold as one anyway and whilst it is very similar to a Knols Minnow there are some differences when the 2 are held together. It has a sharp ridge over the top. The tail is not as wide, there is no Knols lures written on it and the bib is a different shape. If anyone has some info I would love to know so it sits in the right collection
I had the impression that JP and Knols did work together in some way. I do know that the issue that caused the final problem was related to a business dealing they had.

Thank you fellas, i believe your spot on. i had another identical one that was a lot more battle worn in the collection, and i had a bit of a scrap with the pocket knife at the tail end under one of the damaged areas.
Thanks Mark K. |
