I have been mucking around printing some lure designs on Thingverse, and finally got around to putting the green square bill together. Paint job is a bit crappy just with a spray can, I just wanted to see if it would swim before putting to much time in. Pretty happy with the action, only took a slight tweak to get it swimming properly. Its a bit buoyant so will put a bit more lead in the next versions.

Both lures are the same square bill crank design of Thingverse just scaled differently. The red on is 100% and is printed in two halves flat tot he build plate. The red lure was around 60% from memory and printed in one piece vertically with supports. I much prefer the way the layer lines run printing vertically so am going to print a few more full size versions in one piece.

Cheers

They'll get eaten for sure.

What slicer program are you using, I have found Simplify 3D the best out of all the ones I have tried.

It not only lets you adjust every conceivable setting, but parsing & Slicing is done in record time.

Now that you have a shape you can use MeshMixer ( Free ) and remodel into any variation you like.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Lycan, I am just using Cura at the moment as it was free, simple to use and got me going. I initially brought the 3D printer to print some RC planes and parts. Printing RC planes is fairly demanding with thin walls ect, and the general consensus seemed to be most were getting better results with Simplify 3D.

I've downloaded MeshMixer and have started having a play but don't really understand what I am doing. So when all else fails I may actually have to refer to a manual, or better still countless YouTube videos. I wouldn't mind learning Fusion 360 as well, as I can see this being useful for work stuff.

Cheers
