Hello,

I have recently received a vast supply (100 odd) of Marz lures from my uncle who recently past. He was good friends with Maurie Marz and an excellent bass fishermen.

Anyway I am not sure what to do with his collection. Some are new, lots are used. What do collectors do with hand crafted lures? Do you fish them or put them on show?

I am a little torn with how to use them. Any ideas or thoughts?
Thanks

Firstly Welcome to the site.. a wealth of knowledge on here.

Re the Marzy Lures - his earlier smooth ones before he did the ripple bodies, I believe are moderately collectible and depending on size, model and of course condition  - should be $30 and upwards.

Incidentally, I think (?) he said the ripple effect is the result of a broken tooth on his copy lathe and it is actually a spiral down the body. Claimed to have a better signature in the water than a smoothie !!

The others, I would suggest you fish them - especially if you have any "bot flys" - deadly on bass.

Morry did do a few 'exotic' specials and these too would be collectible.

enjoy....wadey

Welcome to the site mate.

I'm with Wadey, put a few aside to remember your uncle with then fish the rest - unless you catch the collecting bug.

This is a small sample in a show box which I think I will keep. Will need to dig through to take a look for the smooths. Thanks for the advice
